Rainier Valley Roots & Music Festival/KVRU 105.7FM Fundraiser
The Rainier Valley "Roots & Music" Festival is the first fundraiser for Rainier Valley Radio 105.7 FM, KVRU. The event takes place at the Rainier Valley Cultural Theater located at 3515 South Alaska Street, Seattle, WA 98118.
The headlining performers, Mycle Wastman, Black Stax, The EriAm Sisters, Porter Ray, Dee Lyle, and pioneering jazz drummer George Griffin and the Senior Drum Line will showcase what KVRU is all about. This stellar group of locally based national recording artists and entertainers are part of KVRU's efforts to amplify the diverse voices of Rainier Valley live and on-air. This edition of the "Roots and Music" fundraiser marks a landmark year for KVRU 105.7FM aka Rainier Valley Radio. KVRU is one of twelve low power FM community radio stations that will be hitting the airwaves in the Puget Sound offering communities an unprecedented slice of the media pie. "Rainier Valley has a rich history. KVRU is a way for Southeast Seattle residents to tell their own stories, share experiences, and become creators and contributors of media." Says Tony Benton, event producer and a founder of KVRU.
The Rainier Valley Radio "Roots & Music" Festival ALL ages event reception and silent auction begins at 6:30 pm with DJ, no host bar (21 and older), food and community booths along with an opportunity to create your own radio program. Musical performances and other special features kick-off in the theater from 8:00 pm Midnight. Benton says, "We are thrilled and excited about the progress of KVRU thus far, but, we've just touched the surface on how we are going to grow and expand. Engaging the community and embracing the diversity of our potential listening audience through "Roots & Music" allows us to innovate and bring fresh listener experiences to radio." Area Chef's will be providing culinary samplers, full dinners, and desserts to delight palates with scintillating flavors all night long.
Tickets are scaled at $20.00 General Admission and $50.00 Golden Circle V.I.P. Tickets are available at Brownpapertickets.com/event/2078008. Title sponsor of the festivities is South Seattle's "Emerald City Fish", the home of Blue Ribbon southern style recipes. The event is also sponsored by Different Walks of Life Entertainment (DWOL) and SouthEast Effective Development (SEED). The Rainier Valley "Roots & Music" Festival is presented by MUSICA Entertainment.
