Seattle Modern Orchestra opens its second season of exciting new music with two monumental pieces: Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire, and George Crumb's Night Music I. The theme of our opening concert is Music on Words, how composers create different ways to depict the imagery of the poems. While both pieces have in common the poetic image of the moon and a 7-part form, their disparate aesthetic makes for a exciting pairing and offers new perspectives on music with words. Led by Co-Artistic Directors Julia Tai and Jeremy Jolley, the Seattle Modern Orchestra is dedicated to presenting musical masterpieces of the 20th and 21st centuries in both traditional and innovative, unconventional venues. Complete concert and artist information can be found at www.seattlemodernorchestra.org.
Seattle Modern Orchestra is an associated program of Shunpike.
