Measure for Measure - GREEN

Measure for Measure stands out as strikingly modern both in style and substance. With the intertwined fates of a brother whose crime subjects him to death, a sister who could save him if she loses her own identity, and an ultra conservative politician who breaks the very laws he promotes, this intriguing story of ethics and errors is relevant today.
Adapted by lumina's Artistic Director David Minton and Maryland State Senator Jamie Raskin, this "play of law" is set in an imaginary Middle East country overseen by Western powers. In its clash of differing systems of fair dealing, Lumina's MEASURE FOR MEASURE presents contemporary conflicts between radically different ideas of societal justice and individual conscience. Lumina follows Shakespeare's path of showing differences without judgment in this intellectually and artistically engaging production which has neither heroes nor villains - only humans from fundamentally different backgrounds trying to find common ground, some "measure for measure".
