Understanding Memory Loss -- Rudy Xavier
Almost everyone over fifty knows someone who struggles with memory loss, whether it's mild forgetfulness or the fade into dementia. The good news is that it is possible to learn how to cope or to help someone else learn how to cope with this potentially life-changing decline.
This class will offer helpful advice to those affected by memory loss as well as to their supportive family and friends. Your presenter Rudy Xavier will discuss current understandings of memory loss, the use of music as therapy, and other strategies and tactics for dealing with what can otherwise be the crushing burden of living with family members or friends who no longer can remember. Your instructor will provide you with current health and legal reference material, ongoing research reports, and an extensive bibliography at no cost to you. For more than a decade Rudy Xavier was a certified Support Group Facilitator and speaker for the Bay Area Alzheimer's Association. He holds degrees in pre-med, psychology and computer science, and is experienced in the clinical psychology of aging.
