How Not to Make a Movie -- Bill Weatherford
This course is a true confessions-in-hindsight look at how local Bill Weatherford made his first feature film, Underclassmen. The film is set in the Central Valley, and follows the two young men growing up, unaware of their shared destinies. Most of the cast members were as new to screen acting as Bill was to screen writing, directing, and producing.
At the first session, we'll meet at the Palm Theater for a showing of the 1 hour and 38 minute showing of the Underclassmen.
At the second session we'll explore the film making process, the jobs, the jargon, and demystify the plain hard work of putting life on film. Bill will share his anecdotes about a rookie senior citizen who thought he knew something about film making.
Bring Popcorn, Whoppers, Raisinettes, and go to the bathroom right before the class begins.
Bill Weatherford is a retired live theater teacher, director, designer, raconteur and provocateur. Since 2005 he has taught OLLI and LLCC courses in brewing, Shakespeare, American history, acting, and reader's theater. His recently completed feature film, Underclassmen, is now making the rounds of film festivals.
Registering for this course by buying a ticket will admit you to both sessions of this course.
