50th Anniversary Celebration w/ Jimmy McCracklin
In 1945, Christy's Grill opened in West Oakland. Later, it became an after hours joint called Rumboogie. The Blues, Soul, and R&B were all played here, but the venue was not large enough.
On Oct. 31, 1961, opened the new 10,000sf with balcony Continental Club. The Christy's had made one of the first super club's in the area. With a huge dance floor (still the largest in the Bay Area), and beautiful balcony, the place had too many legends of music perform here on the regular.
One of those legends, Jimmy McCracklin not played here on the regular, but also booked bands for the club. He is coming home to the Continental Club on Saturday, Nov. 12th at 8pm. This is a celebration, and event you don't want to miss.
After the show is over, we will continue to listen to Jimmy and other Blues artist.
