The Bright Light Social Hour
The Bright Light Social Hour swept the Austin Music Awards during SXSW 2011, taking home 6 awards (Band of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Bassist, Best Keyboardist, Best Producer). They have played Austin City Limits (ACL) Festival, been featured on the cover of The Austin Chronicle twice, and sold out notable Austin venues Antone's, Emo's, The Parish, and The Mohawk.
They're quickly gaining notoriety on the national scale, having toured extensively in recent months with very impressive growth rates in return markets (150+ draw at recent shows in New York City, DC, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, Savannah, Charleston, Toledo, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Laredo and Brownsville). In Tampa, for example, they have seen their attendance grow from 20 to 900 after just four shows. They recently drew over 8,000 to their Blues on the Green performance in Austin's Zilker Park, opened for Girl Talk (5,000 in attendance) in New Braunfels, TX and were featured in Paste Magazine's Best of What's Next. They are currently on their second national tour - highlights of the tour include headlining Cincinnati's Midpoint Music Festival (alongside Cut Copy and Booker T. Jones) and a headlining showcase at the Mercury Lounge for CMJ Music Marathon in New York City.
