Lisa Geduldig and El Rio Present... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Comedy Returns to El Rio is a popular monthly comedy show (every 3rd Thursday of the month) that features an eclectic mix of comedians from the Bay Area and beyond. The show has been taking place for the past 6 years at El Rio in the Mission District, where SF comedian/Kung Pao Kosher Comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig began doing stand up in 1989. She began the show on her 20th anniversary of performing.
This month features: Karinda Dobbins, Nathan Habib, Jeremy Talamantes, Bernadette Luckett, and Lisa Geduldig
Karinda Dobbins hails from the Motor City and now lives in the Bay Area. Her humor is sharp, distinctive, and infused with hilarious social commentary. Karinda has performed on NickMom Night Out on Nickelodeon, and she has opened for Greg Proops, Trevor Noah and has toured with W. Kamau Bell. She has performed at SF Sketchfest and Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Bitch Magazine said she is one of "Six Hilarious Female Comedians You Don't Know Yet - But Should."
Nathan Habib has been doing comedy since his freshman year of high school. He brings a friendly personality on stage with a burst of energy only comparable to the mintiest mouthwash. His confidently vulnerable persona, quick banter, and tightly written bits mark him as a rising comic in the Bay Area. His unique perspective on the most ordinary situations not only elicits laughter but also is critically appreciated by a diverse audience. Nathan is a veteran of Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, having performed on the show at age 21 after being an audience member and budding comic at 14. He produces and hosts a new monthly comedy show, "Applesauce," the first Saturday of the month at Mojo Theatre in the Mission. Bernadette Luckett started her career as a professional model in New York, but her love of comedy led her to a career as a stand up. She has performed all over the country and appeared on TV comedy shows on MTV, NBC, and A&E. An avid writer, Bernadette has written for numerous sitcoms, including - Living Single; Sister, Sister; The Tracy Morgan Show, and Girlfriends. She was a contributing writer to the comedic anthology No Kidding: Women Writers on Bypassing Parenthood and co-authored the popular self-awareness book 21 Days of Enlightenments. Most recently, Bernadette appeared in and co-produced the documentary Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor.
Jeremy Talamantes is half Mexican and all the way funny. The day he dropped out of City College, he solemnly swore to make others laugh heartily. He refuses to accept mere giggling. This Bay Area native travels all over the country to perform stand up in front of whoever will watch him. You should watch him.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (now in its 23rd year); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
