Greater Tuna in San Miguel de Allende
Back by popular demand! 'Greater Tuna' returns to San Miguel at Santa Ana Theatre Aug 17 thru 29
'This is acting at it's finest!' -BC May, SMA
July 27, 2015, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. 'Greater Tuna', the comedy about small towns, small minds and big hearts that ran for 56 performances in Puerto Vallarta and sold-out many nights here in San Miguel in June, will return to San Miguel with 8 performances beginning August 17 @ 7:30pm and continue with 8 performances through August 29, 2015. Early reservations are highly recommended for this popular comedy described by the authors as having plenty of 'Tex' appeal.
The comedy, starring Tracy Parks and Chaz Weathers, takes place in Tuna, the 'third smallest' town in Texas, where the 'Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies'. The two actors play 20 characters (men, women and dogs) and make 42 costume changes throughout the two-act play. One of the most popular plays ever produced, it ran for 30 years (all over the world but mostly in Texas) including a stint on Broadway and two command performances at The White House before the original creators, Joe Sears, Jaston Williams and Ed Howard retired. Picking up the roles in San Miguel's production will be The Palm Cabaret's own entertainment director, Tracy Parks, from Puerto Vallarta and Chaz Weathers, a San Diego based entertainer known for his sharp comedic timing and spot on character portrayals. The two actors play a total of 20 characters, men, women and animals, with forty-two costume changes.
Performances are August 17, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 28 and 29 at 7:30pm. Tickets may be purchased at the Santa Ana Box Office or by phone at 415 152 0293 ext 116. Online tickets are also available through Brown Paper Tickets.
