Copenhagen, a play
Copenhagen is Michael Frayn's brilliant dramatization of a mysterious meeting that took place at the height of World War II between the Danish scientist Niels Bohr, and his former student and colleague, the German scientist Werner Heisenberg. Did Heisenberg set up the meeting in order to spy for the Nazis, or was he trying to thwart Nazi progress towards building an atomic bomb? This endlessly fascinating play poses that question in the form of a an intellectual thriller, a psychological investigation, and a piece of history all rolled into one.
The New York Times called the play "...the most invigorating and ingenious play of ideas in many a year. Endlessly fascinating, filled with a crackling, questioning vitality."
