Chris Van Allsburg & Sherman Alexie:
For more than 25 years, the illustrations in "The Mysteries of Harris Burdick," authored and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg, have entertained readers of all ages. Thousands of children have been inspired to weave their own stories to go with these enigmatic pictures.
In "The Chronicles of Harris Burdick," 14 bestselling authors of adults' and children's literature tell their own tales - mysterious, funny, creepy, and poignant - to go with Van Allsburg's images. The collection includes stories by Seattle's Sherman Alexie, Kate Di Camillo, Stephen King, Lois Lowry, and Van Allsburg himself.
Chris Van Allsburg is the Caldecott Medal award-winning children's book author and illustrator of such books as "The Polar Express" and "Jumanji."
Sherman Alexie is the author of the National Book Award winner, "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian," and several novels and collections of short fiction and poetry.
Mary Ann Gwinn is book editor of The Seattle Times. She is a member of the National Book Critics Circle board of directors.
This event is supported by The Seattle Public Library Foundation, author series sponsor Gary Kunis, and media sponsor The Seattle Times, and presented in partnership with University Book Store. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
