Map Reading & GPS Navigation Basics
This class taught by Morgan Kennedy, Pepperwood's mapping specialist, will teach you how to read maps and use GPS units for navigation of natural places. Workshop activities will include map reading and fundamentals including: terrain, contours, symbols, map projections, coordinate systems, and scaling. Learn GPS use & waypoint collection, compass reading, map to landscape interpretation, and field sketching. Bring lunch and water and wear layered apparel and sturdy hiking shoes. Ages 14 and up welcome.
