Joaquin Lopez

Inspired by Mexican folklore and the Latin American Bolero, accomplished songwriter and storyteller Joaquin Lopez will perform an intimate evening of song and story featuring guest musician James Ashley Mayer. Joaquin's songs are at once simple and lushenriched by an ashen baritone voice and underscored by acoustic classical guitar and the Turkish cumbus, which adds a Middle Eastern flair to the traditional sounds of Spanish lyrical expression. In Lopez' performances, personal story is elevated with song and woven together. The audience will join a journey that is at once deeply moving, humorous, uplifting and also filled with the beauty of romance and heartbreak (perfect for the season). Together, Lopez and Mayer deliver a world of musical nostalgia and elegant melancholia, influenced by the sounds of José José, Chavela Vargas, and Llasa de Sela.
