Theatre Arts at Caltech presents Vaclav Havel's The Memorandum
The play follows Josef Gross, Managing Director of a vaguely soviet style bureaucracy as he attempts to translate a memo written in Ptydepe, a new language introduced by the authorities to streamline communication. In his efforts to protest the incoherent new language Ptydepe and its dehumanizing effect on his staff, we enter in to an absurdist nightmare that is a cross between Steve Carell in the Office couched in the Doublespeak of George Orwell.
