CMSCVA 2015-16 Season Ticket Package
Concert 1: "Schubert's Inspiration"
To begin its 11th season, the Society brings together five outstanding musicians for a performance of Franz Schubert's famous string quintet in C major, the "cello" quintet. The concert also includes a dramatic quintet by French 19th century composer Georges Onslow, which inspired Schubert to write his own quintet with two cellos.

Concert 2: "Baroque at Wilton"
CMSCVA returns to the historic Wilton House for a beautiful and intimate recital of Baroque chamber music on period instruments. [;;;;;;;Please note that the venue is not handicapped accessible.];;;;;;;

Concert 3: "Brandenburgs Plus"
The Society brings many of its favorite Baroque players together for a performance of three of Bach's famous Brandenburg concertos. Also included is the famous B-minor Orchestral Suite for wooden traverso flute and strings.

Concert 4: "Different Voices"
CMSCVA performs music from differing perspectives - from the "suppressed music" of 1920's Europe, to a Romantic trio by Fanny Mendelssohn, to a chamber opera about two gay men in the Holocaust.

Concert 5: "For a Look or a Touch"
The Society presents the Richmond premiere of American composer Jake Heggie's chamber opera "For a Look or a Touch," a dramatic and haunting story of two gay men in Nazi Germany. The evening includes a talk by Dr. Waitman Beorn, Executive Director of the Virginia Holocaust Museum.

Concert 6: "Beethoven Sonatas"
CMSCVA Artistic Director James Wilson and pianist Carsten Schmidt end the 2015-16 with an afternoon of classic and iconic chamber music - three of the cello sonatas by Beethoven. The music will be performed on period instruments, including a reproduction of an early 19th century Broadmore fortepiano.
