WHEN: September 12, 2015: Regional Call to Action, 9:30AM 4:30PM September 13, 2015: Film Fest: The Many Faces of Women, 1:00PM 6:00PM
WHAT: Women's Intercultural Network (WIN) and Beijing Platform for Action 20th Anniversary - a Regional Call to Action and Film Fest Celebrating the dynamic twenty year movement that has survived the war on women and made progress. But we "are not there yet". because there are too many women and families who have not survived.
We can't review 20 years of a California, US or global movement in just two days, but we can experience these years through different perspectives. We will hold a series of provocative 'CONVERSATIONS' with innovators on the 'front lines' who can take us to the finish line and a CEDAW ordinance in 100 US Cities.
WHY: To review and celebrate 20 years of WIN, CAWA and the Beijing Platform for Action (BPFA) progress To implement California, US and Global Women's Platforms for Action by implementing CEDAW ordinances in 100 US cities, a tool for that goal. To honor key social justice and human rights activists. To scale "The New Face of Networking: Connections, Collaborations and Connectivity for the Economic Security of All California Women and Girls " initiative. To view a select list of short films by and about women for information and enjoyment. We want to know what topics you want for a larger and longer Film Festival in 2016.
WHERE: FUTURES WITHOUT VIOLENCE, OPEN SQUARE, 100 Montgomery Street, The Presidio, San Francisco, CA 94129. As the most critical concern for all women and girls who cannot enjoy economic or physical security without more attention to this issue, Futures Without Violence is co-sponsoring the event with WIN at their premier venue.
WHO: KEYNOTE: LIZ ABZUG, Founder and Director of the Bella Abzug Leadership Institute NYC.
