Chop Tops, Lucky Tubb & the Modern Day Troubadours. the Strikers & Jimmy Dean
the CHOP TOPS LUCKY TUBB & the MODERN DAY TROUBADOURS the STRIKERS JIMMY DEAN & the MODERN MEXICANS $10 IN ADVANCE / $12 DAY OF SHOW In 1995, Sinner formed The CHOP TOPS so he'd have a way to share his love of Rockabilly music but he also enjoyed other musical styles (like Punk, Surf, and Psychobilly) and didn't want to stop playing them completely. So the band blended all of their favorite music genres together to create their own special sound. The Chop Tops even coined the phrase "Revved-Up Rockabilly" to describe their unique combination of rebel music styles. As the band progressed, Sinner developed his wild style of lead vocals combined with drumming while standing up. When guitarist Shelby joined in 1999, his talented riffs and high-energy stage presence were a perfect fit for The CHOP TOPS. Shelby brought a wealth of experience from previously playing in many San Francisco Bay Area bands and jamming with the likes of Chris Isaak. In 2008, Brett became the upright bassist, having formerly played with several popular Los Angeles 'Billy bands. Brett's string-slapping skills added the finishing touch to the "Revved-Up Rockabilly" trio. Together, Sinner, Shelby, and Brett have turned The CHOP TOPS into one red-hot rockin' act. The band takes their breed of rockabilly music across the U.S. to perform more than 200 shows every year. So get in your ride, step on the gas, and race down to see them play...you'll be glad you did! LUCKY TUBB & the MODERN DAY TROUBADOURS features the great nephew of the immortal ERNEST TUBB who is fresh off dates with HANK III. Having really lived the life that most country songs tell stories of, Lucky Tubb now puts his focus on his Honky-Tonk heritage. With a few albums under his belt and major tours with Wayne Hancock, Hank III and Dwight Yoakam under his feet, Lucky is on the road to making a name for himself. Non-CMT in the vein of Wayne Hancock, his stripped down Country-Blues should appeal to the outlaw in us all. Lucky Tubb was born in Fort Worth Texas in 1971. He was raised, in part, from the age of four in Tucson, AZ by his great grandparents CR and Margie Tubb. CR was brother to Country Music Legend Ernest Tubb. Lucky would soon become accustomed to the country music dynasty he was born into. In his late teens Lucky chose to live with his father in Forth Worth and there became enveloped into the outlaw biker world. No, really. Having made a run of bad decisions, Tubb learned to play the guitar at the age of seventeen while serving a five year prison sentence in Texas. During this time he practiced his craft and learned to reflect and write about his life experiences in a true to life fashion. Lucky's music is straight up Honky Tonk rendered in the old-school five piece hillbilly style. Lucky's debut album Generations, is vintage style country with a distinct twang. The album takes on a energetic up tempo approach to Country / Blues. Audiences of all ages and walks are captivated by the haunting melodies in all time favorites Lonesome Cowboy Blues and On That Road. The album reached #1 on True Country charts for three weeks and remained there for a couple of months to come. "Lucky and the band wrap around the lyrics and melodies like calloused hands on an ice cold long neck. No clutter, no overplaying, no excess and no grandstanding can be heard. The sound here is a black and white photograph that you can still see (and hear) with your eyes closed." Hailing from San Diego California, The STRIKERS sound is a mixture of aggressive punk rock, metal and psychobilly. Joey (guitar/lead vocals) and longtime friend Donovan (drums) were tired of trying to force their musical styles into bands that did not share their vision. They began writing songs for a straight forward rock band that would not compromise its sound for anyone. Almost by luck they found Rob (upright bass/backing vocals) who also shared their vision. The trio began writing and performing, mixing their own, very different, musical styles into one aggressive "kick-in-the-neck rock n' roll band".
