From Patton Oswalt: "Yes, I'm finally doing it again! Only for 3 nights, because I seem to be keeping meth addict hours these days, but goddamit, I'm doing it. My 2nd New Beverly Screening Series -- Deeper in the Dark with Patton Oswalt.
"Okay, so -- Tuesday the 4th. Opening night:
"Remember last time, when I had the world premiere of Bobby Hacker's bizarre, non-linear, totally hilarious Cars III? Well, now I've got the L.A. premiere of Todd Rohal's bizarre, more-or-less linear, totally hilarious The Catechism Cataclysm. It stars Steve Little (from East Bound and Down) as a priest who takes the most horrific canoe trip in cinema history. There will be special guests at this screening, I just don't know who yet. I just shot a film with the director in upstate New York. His first film, The Guatemalan Handshake, was a festival favorite. Go rent it. He hasn't thought of a title for the new one we shot. He's got a twisted, unprecedented future in film. Come see The Catechism Cataclysm and you'll see what I mean.
"Then, after that, at 9:30, I'll be there to screen one of the most fucked-up movies put out by a major studio in years. The unjustly maligned, unfairly-abandoned-by-said-studio Punisher: War Zone. Go to the "SPEW" section of this website and read the entry The "Is This Happening?" Movie Club. That's how much I loved this movie. Afterward I'm going to talk to the director, Lexi Alexander. She's cute and also a karate champion and could kick a hole in my chest. I might be so exhausted at that point I might ask her to. I don't know how I'm going to get through these next 3 months. Did I just write that? I need sleep."
