Triskelion Arts Presents Vanessa Walters & Launch Movement Experiment
Triskelion Arts Presents a shared evenings of new work by Vanessa Walters & Launch Movement Experiment

Saturday and Sunday, November 14-15, 2015 at 8pm

Vanessa Walters' newest Ripening sequence is based on a dream featuring a female sasquatch, She-Yeti, an embodiment of the female "id", a creature part myth, part animal, part woman. In her dream, She-yeti envisions the stage a grid, the domain of the eight-sided die, featuring 8 symbols and 8 modes or possible sequences. Five characters  She-yeti; Big Hap; two Burka-clad dancers and Oz  plus the audience play the game.  Big Hap intersperses text from Shakespeare, Dr. Seuss, and chronicles of Lapham's Quarterly on Time, Death, Youth, and Magic Shows.  Oz is maestro. Except for the opening and ending, each performance will be wildly different according to the rolling of the die. Every game weaves a new recipe for possible transformation with cycles, loops, and lines. Time is out of Time; for the message of the medium unveils ever more golden mystery  but only if one will play!

Launch Movement Experiment's site: unseen is a narrative, created in the moment, telling as many stories as there are observers. The starting point of the work is decided although what follows is left to the performers to uncover as the piece progresses. The piece contains one dancer (Rachel McKinstry), one lighting designer (Andy Dickerson), one drummer (Layton Weedeman,) a disco ball, a foil balloon that lives on helium, a flashlight, a telephone, a microphone, two doors, one window. site: unseen explores both the exposed and the hidden; the heard and the unheard; and the known and the unknown by fully creating (and often destroying) environments from the ground up.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
