The East Bay fine dining scene joins local community organizations for restaurateur Charlie Hallowell's second season of the successful Sunday Suppers series. Launched in May 2014, this event now occurs every other month and brings together spectacular food and good company to raise money for a different East Bay organization working on behalf of the community. To date, we have raised over $80,000 for a number of great causes.
Join us September 20th at Pizzaiolo, to support the amazing work of Communities for a Better Environment (CBE), which builds people's power in California's communities of color and low-income communities to achieve environmental health and justice by preventing and reducing pollution and building green, healthy and sustainable communities and environments. CBE organizes in the E. Oakland neighborhoods of Elmhurst, Brookfield, and Sobrante Park to build residents knowledge, skills and leadership capacity to address environment health and justice issues that improves the quality of life of families. We engage residents, partners and allies to change local land use decisions to reduce local pollution and to build healthier communities. www.cbecal.org
Tickets cost $60-100 sliding scale per person, wine included, for a multicourse, prix-fixe meal. The bar will be open throughout the evening for walk-ins to order drinks.
Charlie and representatives from CBE will share information about their work, and we will be raising additional funds at the event. All proceeds, after costs, will be donated to CBE. Signature cocktails may be ordered throughout the night at the cash bar 100% of the proceeds will also be donated to the organization.
