Wake the Dead
Wake the Dead

The World's First Celtic All-Star Grateful Dead Jam Band. After 11 years of solid success blending Celtic traditional music and the
songs of the Grateful Dead, this hot Northern California septet now embraces the entire Summer of Love, delighting Deadheads,
folkies, rockers, and adventurous music lovers alike around the world.

Maureen Brennan - Celtic Harp -equally accomplished in early classical and folk harp. Before joining WAKE THE DEAD, Maureen
performed with nouveau-traditional bands Paradise Lost and Kingfisher, released three solo CDs, and participated in the acclaimed
"Harpistry" collection. She teaches at workshops and harp conferences throughout North America.

Cindy Browne - Double Bass - been an active free-lance performer and recording artist in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1979.
Her jazz credits include performances from Jordan to Japan. In recent years she's also toured and recorded with the Quirks and with
Kaila Flexer's Next Village. Cindy holds a Masters in classical performance from Washington State University where she was director
of the jazz workshop and a jazz history lecturer.

Danny Carnahan - vocals, octave mandolin, guitar, fiddle -as half of the ground-breaking Celtic duo Caswell Carnahan, helped pave the way
for the California Celtic explosion of the early '80s. He then toured with Robin Petrie for over ten years, building a following from
Europe to New Zealand and earning two NAIRD "Indie" awards and a Grammy nomination.

Kevin Carr - fiddle, uilleann pipes, pennywhistle a musical triple-threat, renowned in the U.S. and Canada as a dance fiddler, a pennywhistler,
and Irish piper par excellence. He is best known for his work with the cult contradance and concert band The Hillbillies From Mars,
though in recent years he has been spending considerable time in Spain mastering Galician bagpipes.

Sylvia Herold - vocals, guitar -A 20-year veteran on the scene, Sylvia is well-known for her work with the popular swing trio Cats & Jammers.
The Cats swung together for over a decade.

Paul Kotapish - vocals, mandolin, guitar, octave mandolin, National steel guitar - Equally confident and inventive on every fretted instrument,
Paul has distinguished himself on the stage for over 30 years. Most recently, Paul has made a name for himself with his concerts and recordings
with Kevin Burke's Open House, a headlining act in Celtic and international folk festivals across the country. Paul is also widely respected for
his work as editor and feature writer at Acoustic Guitar Magazine.

Brian Rice - hand percussion - the latest addition to the WTD cast of characters, coming in to sub for Joe when Joe was touring with the Grisman band
and blowing everybody's minds so thoroughly he's become a mainstay, even doubling up with Joe in Mickey-and-Billy style for the 2001
Freight & Salvage show. When not performing with WTD, Brian teaches jazz and world drumming to kids and adults in Oakland.

Shimmering renditions of Dead music fused with Celtic beauty. The music is beautiful, masterfully performed with Dead-hommage vocal style,
great traditional Celtic instrumentation. The Dead songs fit this genre very well. I think any fan of the Dead will appreciate these renditions
of their music. I know Jerry would've dug them."
Reed Maidenberg, Amazon.com

"[;Wake the Dead]; have found a spiritual walkway between Irish music and the Grateful Dead . . . There's a sense of longing in every CD track."
