Film Screening: Design for Modern Living: Millard Sheets and the Claremont Art Community, 1935-1975
The Huntington will present a screening of the documentary Design For Modern Living: Millard Sheets and the Claremont Art Community, 1935-1975.
The film by Paul Bockhorst tells the story of the remarkable artistic community led by artist and educator Millard Sheets that thrived in Claremont, Calif., following World War II. After the screening, Bockhorst and Hal Nelson, The Huntington's curator of decorative arts, will be on hand to answer questions.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to view The Huntington's 1934 mural by Millard Sheets, which is installed in the Stewart R. Smith Board Room. A wine and cheese reception is included.
This event will be held in Rothenberg Hall.
For Non-Members, Huntington admission to the grounds and galleries is a separate required cost.
Sales end at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 2.
