Pegasus, I Am Lono & The Diamond Age
Another fantastic night of music for you lovely lot!
Pegasus
PEGASUS are the vanguards of new Swiss pop. Oozing self-confidence, they create their own innovative sound. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that their last album, Human.Technology, went platinum, their Olympic song, 'Skyline', was a No.-1 hit, and the singles 'Technology', 'Rise Up', and 'Man On Mars' were all huge airplay successes. With the release of Human.Technology outside Switzerland in spring 2013, the band took the first step on the road to an international career. The release was followed by performances at festivals in Belgium and the renowned Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany. In November 2013, PEGASUS was the support act for the British synth pop band Hurts on its tour of Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. They may only be in their mid-twenties, but the 4 piece from Biel have quite a live reputation! With sell-out tours, headline festival shows, and being support band for Coldplay under their belts, the members of PEGASUS have matured into an incomparable band: four devoted musicians who are equally at home in dance, pop, and epic stadium rock.
Their last album, Love & Gunfire was released in 2014. Love and violence, closeness and distance, care and estrangement ... this latest musical offering from PEGASUS has it all. Not ones for standing still or resting on their laurels, the members of PEGASUS have not only picked up where they left off with their platinum album, Human.Technology, they are also brave enough to develop and break new ground.
I Am Lono
The Nottingham based duo mix heavy synth sounds with a variety of guitar sounds, from subtle to almost fuzz induced sonic assault, to bring a sound that gives a nod back to the early post punk synth bands of the 80's, with their own modern take. And they have their debut long player 'Why Everything Is Made Of Fives' out from August, which they will be showcasing on the night!
The Diamond Age
Southampton duo The Diamond Age is a project from Matt Canning and Bilu Acharjee. Specialising in propulsive dream-pop, the band fuse together elements of indie, shoe-gaze and kraut-rock to create music with immediacy and melody at its heart, drawing influences from The Smiths, The Drums, LCD Soundsystem to a name a few. Since late 2013, The Diamond Age have been self-producing their recordings, and November 2013 saw the release of 'Yesterday Was' and 'Andrew's An Android' on Soundcloud, which has generated over 10,000 plays in the few months since. Picked up by blogs, podcasts and radio, the tracks won much acclaim, with When The Gramophone Rings exclaiming: "Hell, this is the best song The Shins never released. This is gold." In May 2014, and the band self-released their single 'I Might Just Be' and followed that up with the Private Victories EP in June 2014 and the album Topographic in September 2014.
With a Goodsoul playlist as well, this will be a brilliant night of synthy goodness!
