Season Extension Short Course
Season extension techniques can increase your production to meet the explosion in demand for local produce. Many consumers, chefs, and distributors seek locally grown produce year-round. To meet this demand many producers utilize a variety of season extension tools and techniques that allow for harvesting of crops during non-peak periods.
Washington State University researchers and educators will join with experienced producers to provide this short course in season extension. This one day course will focus on season extension specifically for western Washington.
The class will integrate producer-to-producer education, on-farm learning, and class room presentations to cover a wide range of topics including: crop ecology, crop and variety selection, season extension tools and structures, and economics of production.
