Marina Abromovic is Staring at Me By Stephen Laughton Directed By Mike Donahue
MoMA. New York City. A performance, a retrospective.
A young man, Carl, sits down opposite his idol. Intent on a stunt, on a lie, an escape in the nature of the artist's, of Marina Abramovic's own work.
Finding a sudden disquiet at the enormity of the encounter, of Marina Abramovic's stare, Carl crumbles. And instead, somewhat lost, finds himself confessing guilt at the breakdown of the 14 year relationship that suddenly springs up around him. At the culpability, the responsibility of destroying the life of the only person he's ever really loved.
Taking place simultaneously in the past, present and future - - as key moments from Carl and Scott's life together unfold Carl tries to feel something anything. His final 'confession', together with an encounter in a hotel afterwards, becoming ever more extreme
Terra Firma theatre is a "biodynamic theatre company dedicated to using theatre as a tool for dialogue and symbiosis between the environment and the arts."
