The Carver Center and white road Dance Media are proud to present Deer, To Me, originally created and performed in 2010. A piece for five dancers and three video projectors, with an electronic score composed by Patrik Phalen, Deer, To Me layers video texturing, movement, and sound to create an environment both immersive and magical. The deep landscape that takes root is a fantastical one of capture and escape, of animal instincts and human desires. Deer, To Me splinters the audience's focus between screen and stage, furthering the question of how and where the "real" occurs. Is the real what is live onstage, or live onscreen? What happens to time when the real is in question? Time is relative to reality, and reality turns into sur-reality. In this surreal environment, two opposing entities emerge: the Deer, malleable, soft and earthly, and the Hunters, hard, angular, and in constant pursuit.
