Dirty Bourbon River Show
Dirty Bourbon River Show, one of New Orleans' most imaginative gypsy folk circus rock ensembles, spins their talent and whimsy into an offbeat musical frenzy unlike any other. With a larger-than-life and relentlessly energetic stage presence, they ensnares audiences with their eccentric performances and wealth of up-tempo original material. Described by one reviewer as "a circus-like barrage of sound serving as entrance music for a magical mystery tour of whiskey-soaked French Quarter back alleys" (Offbeat Magazine), the band continues to surprise audiences with their rock-infused gypsy sound, all laid atop the foundation of the Big Easy brass band tradition.
They are one of those party bands who transcend any attempt to pigeonhole them: all they want to do is play good music. They've had such success making albums and giving them away at shows that they keep running out so they record new ones. Their latest, Volume Three, is actually their fifth, something you might expect from a band that puts the party vibe front and center. But they're excellent musicians, which you have to be in order to mix New Orleans jazz, reggae, latin, gypsy and soul music and make people happy. Lyrically, a lot of these songs are Tom Waits-ish; musically, they're an awful lot of fun.
"Riotousracuousswashbuckling sea chanteys, paranoid polkas, and carnival jazz, often in the same song - now that's my kind of party!" Aaron Lafont, Groovescapes
