SONGS FROM THE OLD PARISH Written and Directed by Greg Drozdek
SONGS FROM THE OLD PARISH Written and Directed by Greg Drozdek Cello: Jeremy Lamb 12 stories with music on growing up and living in New York City. I have lived and worked here all my life. My father was a refugee from Yugoslavia who met my mother after she left the convent. New York raised me. The people, the streets, my priest and the nuns, the neighbors, they all helped me survive. The bar, the characters and crooks at the bar where my father drank, they helped raise me too. They taught me to love the music of the city, the music I have built my life around the songs that are New York, the songs from the old parish.
Greg Drozdek was born and raised in New York City. He founded and ran The Stanton Street Settlement, a free after-school program for immigrant children from 1998 - 2008. His short film "Payday" (with Theodore Bikel and Jimmy Breslin) won Best Director and Best Cinematography at The New York Film and Video Festival in 2001. Stage plays include: "The Tender" and "The Here & Now," (Kraine,) and "Catherine Slip" (Red Room).
