Vancouver's Drag Queens get the Oprah treatment when Tucked and Plucked: Vancouver's Drag History Live on Stage transforms PAL Studio Theatre into a talk show studio and shines the spotlight on local Drag performers. As part of PAL Studio Theatre Society's Pioneers of Performance cabaret series, Tucked and Plucked (September 23 & 24) invites audiences to take a peek behind the glitz and glamour and into the history of Drag performance in Vancouver and its impact on social change. Taking its cue from daytime talk shows, Tucked and Plucked features hosts Isolde N. Barron and Peach Cobblah (alter egos of Cameron Mackenzie and Dave Deveau) in intimate conversation with Vancouver Drag Queensincluding Joan E. and Mona Regina Leeas well as dazzling performances, games, and a no-holds-barred question period with the audience. "Drag Queens are so much in the eye of pop culture recently, with Priscilla: Queen of the Desert on Broadway and La Cage aux Folles at the Vancouver Playhouse this season," said Mackenzie, who holds two titles from the Dogwood Monarchist Society, Canada's oldest and founding gay charitable organization, now in its 40th year. "Our aim with Tucked and Plucked is to educate, inform, and inspireand have a laugh or two while we're at it!" Tucked and Plucked: Vancouver's Drag History Live on Stage is the second of PAL Studio Theatre Society's Pioneers of Performance cabarets; the firstJuly's Speeding & Rollingcelebrated Vancouver's film and television history, while an upcoming November cabaret will explore the history of multicultural performance in Vancouver.

Q&A
Question: |
hi - Isodsaid this was an all age show - I have a v intersted 13 year old and 17 ! |
Answer: |
We have placed an age advisory on this show simply because we are not totally sure of the content given the nature of traditional "drag" show material, and also because the show will be set up as a cabaret with a liquor license. It is simply an advisory. If you wish to bring a 13/17 year old you are welcome to - we just like to give as much information to our patrons as possible. |
