Lunch & Learn: Additions to Historic Buildings -- Cracking the Code
August 19, 2015 Cavignac and Associates 450 B St #1800, San Diego, CA 92101 (FOCUS Room) 12-1:30PM 1.5 CE Brownbag Lunch-style (please bring your own) Free for AIA $15 for non-members
Architects and owners are often baffled by what constitutes an appropriate addition to a historic building or district. The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for rehabilitation spell-out the "dos and don'ts" for additions, but experts often disagree about the best solutions. Preservation Architect David Marshall, AIA has worked with The Standards for 25 years as a private architect and design reviewer for the City's Historical Resources Board. David will show various case studies and discuss why some solutions comply with The Standards -- while others do not. This session is intended for architects, owners, contractors, real estate agents, City staff and board members.
