The King's Garden / Sabeel / Sing Your Song / The Last Passenger / Bahiya & Mahm
The King's Garden
Phoebe Fronista
Short Documentary | USA | 2011 | 25 min.

The King's Garden is a documentary short about the uneasy relationship between archaeology, religion and nationalism in Israel.

In the small East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan - believed to be the initial site of the four-thousand-year-old city - a controversy is raging. 22 Palestinian homes are slated to be razed to make way for the expansion of the City of David archaeological park and tourism center. At the same time, more and more Jewish-Israeli settlers are moving into the neighborhood. Tension between the two factions has gotten uglier and uglier - and, in September of 2010, blood was shed.
