Elective - The Deconstruction
The Deconstruction, or 'Decon' takes a single relationship-based two person scene and uses a whole team of improvisers to explode it, comment on it and examine it from all possible angles. Using other scenes and characters to comment on the 'core scene', the decon combines relationship- and premise-based improvisation in a longform structure with a momentum and rhythm all of its own. Funny and tender, and with a twist in the tail, the decon is a classic Chicago form and very rarely performed in the UK. During this day-long introduction, you will be introduced to the core structures of the format, understanding what each stage is for and how it fits into the whole. You will be guided through the structure step by step, then put it together to see how it really works. This class is recommended for improvisers who have a year of experience or more. If you are unsure about whether this class is for you, email jules@thenurserytheatre.com with a summary of your experience.
