William Boyce's - SOLOMON
San Francisco Renaissance Voices (Todd Jolly, Music Director) presents the west coast premiere of William Boyce's (1711-1779) opera SOLOMON. This rarely performed piece which uses the text of the Song of Solomon as its inspiration, was second in popularity when it was composed only to Handel's Messiah. Although tame by today's standards, just a generation after it was written it disappeared from the stage because it was considered too risque'! Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime performance which features soprano Susan Gundunas as "She" and tenor Corey Head as "He."
