GREEN NIGHT
Macha Monkey Productions (The Cowgirl Play, Melancholy Play, R - The Swashbuckling Tale of Anne Bonny & Mary Read, GameGirl, Live Girls Do Elektra, the MEOW cabaret series) presents the world premiere of a new script by John Kaufmann (Line One, Starball, linger). GREEN NIGHT will be presented at Capitol Hill's Chamber Theatre September 9- 24, 2005.
GREEN NIGHT, a sacrificial comedy inspired by the Arthurian legend of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, serves its source material by comically exploring themes of honor and sacrifice. Kaufmann begins his version at the Climatize Corporation, an innovative weather balloon company. Climatize co-founder Gwen has just learned of Guarder Industries' hostile takeover of her company, and their nefarious plans to use her weather-balloon software for weapons navigation. When Gwen resists for ethical reasons, the CEO of Guarder challenges her to partake in a distant quest. Gwen travels to the remote island of Tombakar, where the fate of the world rests on her passing a final test of honor.
