"A Man of No Importance" produced by Farmers Alley Theatre @ WMU's Little Theatre
June musicals at Farmers Alley Theatre have always given us an opportunity to shine a light on some new or lesser-known work. Next to Normal, Parade and last year's Dogfight are just a few titles that we have brought to vivid life. This year, we bring to the stage our latest "diamond in the rough" A Man of No Importance. From the songwriting team behind the musical Ragtime, comes the tale of bus driver Alfie Byrne, a man with a secret that he can't share with anyone but his imagined confidante, Oscar Wilde. Set in 1964 Dublin with a lush Irish-inspired score, A Man Of No Importance is a rare gem in the canon of musical theater, one which combines the depth and drama of a play with the lyricism and comedy of a musical.
