Hazel Miller and Dotsero
Cultural Affairs presents Hazel Miller and Dotsero for an evening of Holiday Jazz! Celebrate the holidays on Monday, December 5 at the Broomfield Auditorium with a jazzy concert featuring Colorado favorites Hazel Miller and Dotsero in their third annual holiday show. This year, the concert will be held only three times in the Denver metro area and the Broomfield show will kick off their season.
Dotsero is nationally recognized as one of the most entertaining and exciting contemporary jazz group on the charts, combining high energy and spontaneity. Add in the amazing vocal sounds of "Colorado's First Lady of Soul" Hazel Miller and its sure to be an entertaining holiday show for everyone. Audience participation is encouraged and this season will bring new songs and special treats.
Hazel Miller is not just a great singer "she is a force of nature!" quotes the Rocky Mountain New and her voice has been called "stunning, moving and powerful." Whether she is singing blues, jazz, pop, or Gospel, her voice charges the songs with a primal dose of genuine soul.
Hazel began her 38-year career in Louisville, Kentucky, where she rose to the top of the music scene. She opened for popular artists such as Mel Torme, James Brown, Temptations, Earl Klugh, Bob James and many others.
Since moving to Colorado she has regularly performed with Big Head Todd and the Monsters. She has sung with or opened for such artists as Julian Lennon, Peter, Paul and Mary, Charlie Musselwhite, Leo Kottke, Bob Weir, Herbie Hancock, Pop Staples, Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Nancy Griffith, Buddy Guy, Lou Rawls, Rickie Lee Jones, James Taylor, Spyro Gyro, Joe Sample, and many more.
The city of Denver singled out Hazel as one of 150 people who make Denver a better place to live. She has received several awards for artistic excellence including Best Independent Blues-R&B Recording and Outstanding Performer at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Hazel has several CDs available for sale on her website.
Dotsero means Smooth Jazz at its best, full of life energy and spontaneity that few artists in the genre have been able to match. A no-nonsense sax and guitar driven thrill ride of energy and excitement, they are as much fun to watch as they are to hear.
