Music At The Depot featuring Gigi Dover & The Big Love
The Gaston County Museum of Art & History presents Music at the Depot featuring Gigi Dover & The Big Love on Friday, November 11 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at its renovated train Depot located at 205 West Main Street in Dallas, NC.
Americana favorite, Gigi Dover, is a native of Charlotte, claiming to be "born, bred and buttered in the South." Her earlier recordings with The Rank Outsiders, and solo have garnered much praise.
Since 2004, Gigi has been touring the region with her husband/songwriter Eric Lovell on lead guitar and David Clark on bass. Gigi Dover and The Big Love released "Live 2-3-4-5" in 2005 and "Nouveau" in 2007, which reached #8 on the XM Americana Chart that year.
The Avocado Sessions is the title of the latest offering from Gigi Dover and the Big Love (Eric Lovell, guitars, etc; David Clark, bass; Jason Atkins, keys; John Spurrier, drums; Andrew Marcadis, percussion) and these 12 original cuts defy category. The quirky and confident collection ranges from jazzy funk in "Ode To Barry" to gypsy swing in "Paris" and a sitar-driven lament "A Better Place." Not to mention the Klezmeresque and just-plain-fun "Skinny Minute."
