The Learning Fairy

Open Eye Figure Theatre blends child's play with rock and roll, sprinkling in puppetry and some old school theater magic to create modern day fun for all ages with The Learning Fairy. Created by Zoe Sommers Haas, The show features Sommers Haas in the title role along with her rock and roll band (Noah Sommers Haas, Max Spector and Michael Sommers), her best friend Mr. Make-It (Julian McFaul), the ever present Questioning Girl (Carly Wickes), her flying pig, the tiny little minnie tinies, and a giant giggle ball. The Learning Fairy extols the joy of playing outside, being good to yourself and your community, and celebrating what makes us different.

The Learning Fairy began as a character in a recording of music for a CD entitled "Children and Caring Adults." Sommers Haas further developed the character and debuted her at the Current's Rock the Cradle in January 2011. "Open Eye is committed to creating theatre for an intergenerational audience," says Co-Artistic Director Susan Haas. "As a show for all ages, The Learning Fairy embraces the creative process of young and tireless artists, the magic of theatre, and the joy and celebration of being human."
