Tim Eriksen & Friends, The Silks, The Vox Hunters and more; Lily Pads 5th Anniversary Show
A very special night of music featuring Tim Eriksen and Friends, local trad phenoms The Vox Hunters, the Whale Guitar, The Contemporary Theater Company, and many surprises.
For twenty years, the band of Tim Eriksen and percussionist Peter Irvine, Cordelia's Dad, has been an ongoing series of musical experiments. Beginning with an unabashed punk rock fury, and evolving into tender, intricate acoustic songs, the common threads have been powerful harmony singing, haunting melodies, and insistent rhythm. Founders Tim Eriksen and Peter Irvine, and Cath Oss, have travelled throughout North America and Europe, melding their passionate interpretations of early American hymns, ballads, and fiddle and banjo tunes with their own contemporary pop music sensibilities.
Tim is a multi-instrumentalist, and an authority on shape-note singing and roots and traditional music of America and the British Isles. He consulted on the music for the film version of Cold Mountain, and brought shape note singing to the Oscars! Also on the bill, an acoustic set by Rhode Island's own The Silks, and The Vox Hunters, featuring English and Anglo concertina, fiddle, voice, Uilleann pipes and more. If that weren't enough, a group from The Contemporary Theater will be stopping by for a dose of their unique brand of fun. We hope you can join us for what promises to be a very special evening.
