About the University of Washington Center for Integrated Design: The Center for Integrated Design, composed of the Integrated Design Lab and the Discovery Commons, builds knowledge through discovery, advocacy and education about high performance built environments that better serve the health of people and the planet. The Center discovers new technologies and strategies for deeply higher building performance through funded research activities within its Integrated Design Lab, the IDL. The Center's faculty are advocates through their education and outreach activities. These outreach activities are supported by and provided through the Center's Discovery Commons.
About the International Living Future Institute: A hub for visionary programs. ILFI administer the Living Building Challenge, the built environment's most rigorous and ambitious performance standard. ILFI is the parent organization for Cascadia Green Building Council and the home to Ecotone Publishing, a unique publishing house dedicated to telling the story of the green building movement's pioneering thinkers and practitioners. By embracing the psychology of the endgame, ILFI strives to identify the most direct path to a future in which all life can thrive. We seek partnerships with leaders in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in pursuit of a future that is socially just, culturally rich and ecologically restorative.
About Feet First: Feet First began in 1995 as a group of citizens and professionals interested in promoting walkable communities.Their latest project, Street Stories, is a project designed to merge storytelling, technology, and neighborhood culture to creatively engage youth in understanding how a place for all people to walk contributes to the health, safety and vibrancy of a community. The program has been offered to 7th and 8th graders enrolled in the Parks Academy of Learning Summer Program at Washington Middle School managed by Seattle Parks and Recreation. Through engaging neighborhood walks and design workshops, 35 program participants are exploring transportation, placemaking, housing, environment, and quality of life.
