Hairspray
Tracy Turnblad, an overweight teenager born to dance,is obsessed with the Corny Collins Show. Every day after school, she and her best friend Penny run home to watch the teenage dance show and drool over the hot Link Larkin, much to Edna's (her mother) dismay. When one of the show's stars leaves, Corny Collins holds auditions to find the her replacement. To the horror of Amber Von Tussle, the show's reigning "queen" and her mother Velma (owner of the TV station),Tracy wins the contest. Amber and Velma are
determined to get rid of Tracy whatever it takes. After Tracy realizes how unfair it is that the  Corny Collins Show allows the black kids to dance on the show only once a month (a Velma dictate) Tracy with the help of her friends Seaweed, Penny, Motormouth Maybelle, and Link,(who now really likes her) leads a protest against the show and Velma's TV station and teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration.....all without denting her "do!"- by Leoprez1030
