RoofTop Dance September 2011
RoofTop Dance is a summer series that offers pioneering choreographic artists in dance and movement-based forms a shared initiative for the development and performance of new works. RoofTop Dance introduces a framework for the development of community and dialogue by identifying, supporting and presenting our current generation of emerging and established artists.
We tried for August 27th, but Hurricane Irene wouldn't let us, so we rescheduled and the event is now an autumnal display of the dances made by Jen Rosenblit, Anna Marie Shogren, Liz Young and Jenna Riegel. These choreographers make new works from within this structure for the Event and will send us sailing into the fall. These thoughtful choreographers create and perform original works as a reflection of how they've individually met the questions and discussions of the group process determined at the outset. Sadly, The Architects, are not able to join us as the rescheduled date is not possible for the out of town ladies.
Their works are presented as part of the performance/party on an open-air stage built specifically for the expansive warehouse rooftop. After each performance, the event continues with a dance party and refreshments to quench all tastes and thirsts.
Looks like the MTA will make it challenging for you to get here. Try the JMZ and walk through Bushwick. RoofTop Dance is curated and produced by Benn Rasmussen, Anna Adams Stark, Raja Feather Kelly, Caitlin Marz and Edward Rice and is co-produced with Norte Maar. www.nortemaar.org
