The Diary of Anne Frank

The Attic Theatre is proud to produce the world classic stage production of The Diary of Anne Frank at Woodinville Alliance Church - Woodinville, WA this coming September 23 - Oct 2, 2011. We highly encourage junior high thru college and home school groups studying literature, English and drama to attend, as well as adults of all ages, and we will be offering special discounts for groups of 10 or more. Due to content and issues discussed in the play, we would recommend this show to ages of 8 years and above.
The Diary of Anne Frank is based on the real life diary written by Anne Frank, one of the most well known holocaust victims of World War II, and the story of Anne, her family and friends has become a classic of modern world literature. This 1999 revised play and Tony Award winner by Wendy Kesselman has won rave reviews as one of the most realistic portrayed dramas depicting the life of the Frank family.
The Frank family moved from Germany to Amsterdam in 1933, the year the Nazis gained control over Germany. By the beginning of 1940, they were trapped in Amsterdam by the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. As persecutions of the Jewish population increased in July 1942, the family went into hiding in the hidden rooms of Anne's father, Otto Frank's, office building. After two years, the group was betrayed and transported to the concentration camps.Otto Frank, the only survivor of the family, returned to Amsterdam after the war to find that Anne's diary had been saved, and his efforts led to its publication in 1947.
