The Botanical Landscape - Sketching, Maquette Making and Technique of Chasing
Julie Blyfield creates lovely textural botanical- and marine-influenced jewelry and vessels and is delighted to share her techniques with us. Her emphasis is on the source of inspiration as much as it is on the process. This workshop will focus on the process of sketching from nature, developing these sketches into constructing paper maquettes for the design of a piece of jewelry or the small-scale object. Participants will learn how to interpret their own designs incorporating the technique of chasing. Julie will also teach chasing techniques and how to make chasing tools, as well as lead participants in a series of experimental chasing exercises. There will be ongoing individual and group discussions as part of the design, making and learning process.
