Leave My Shoes By the Door
Kuntz and Company, a non-profit dance/theatre company directed by Pam Kuntz, presents Leave My Shoes By the Door.  Kuntz confronts perceptions regarding the end of life with humor and compassion through a visceral exploration of community members' stories.

This is the tenth in a series of performance pieces created by Kuntz that have explored a wide range of social and personal issues using the stories of local community members. Past pieces include The Mom Project (2005), That one Curve (2006), Stories from Jim and Jo (2010), and Prison Pieces (2011).  Using dance as the vehicle for delivering these stories, performers provide a revealing, sensory experience that makes public those things we don't normally talk about.  As in past performances Kuntz explores another powerful issue affecting everyone's life that is rarely discussed in our culture.

Kuntz and Company features the work of professional artists in collaboration with community participants.  Professional artists include composer Spencer Thun, visual artist Ruthie V. and dancers Alona Christman, Angela Kiser, and Ella Mahler.  Community participants are Linda Allen, Marie Eaton, Brooke Friswold, Nathan Scarborough, Ben Scholtz, and Brittaney Schunzel.

Kuntz and Company is collaborating with Whatcom Hospice to create several opportunities for community engagement including moderated discussions immediately following all three Saturday performances.  Additionally, a community forum will be held on Wednesday September 14th at 7:00 PM at the YWCA Ballroom on North Forest St, featuring dance participants, Whatcom Hospice personnel, and other community members exploring experiences, issues, and meaning in death and dying.
