AME presents 1938
Our second program of the season showcases classic works by six titans of American music, who by sheer coincidence, were all born in 1938: William Bolcolm, Paul Chihara, John Corigliano, John Harbison, Joan Tower and Charles Wuorinen. We are certain this will be one of the most memorable programs of the year. Among the many fantastic works on the program will be Coriglianos Chiaroscuro, a masterpiece for two pianos, one tuned a quarter-tone down. This work will be performed by AME members Stephen Gosling and Blair McMillen, the two pianists featured on our first seasons sold-out Powerhouse Pianists concert. This is a rare opportunity to hear two of Americas finest pianists performing together, and this is one concert you wont want to miss.
CD RELEASE PARTY! The much anticipated Powerhouse Pianists CD will be released at our 1938 concerts on February 3, 2008. This disc features Stephen Gosling and Blair McMillen, the pianists from our critically-acclaimed Powerhouse Pianists concert. They will both be performing John Corigliano's Chiaroscuro for two pianos tuned 1/4 tone apart and will be available at the reception to personally sign your copy.
