Symphony of the Redwoods: A Musical Grand Tour: Fall Concert
Allan Pollack conducts the orchestra with pieces from Borodin, Dvorák, Vaughan Williams, Ravel and Tchaikowsky, with special guests, Matthew Miksak, baritone and College of the Redwoods Community Choir.
March 3 & 4, 2012 Symphony of the Redwoods: A Musical Grand Tour Mid-season Concert Allan Pollack conducts the orchestra in two pieces, Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio and Haydn's Military Symphony #100, that share influences from the Ottoman Empire. The musical journey continues with Respighi's Ancient Aires and Dances Suite #1, based on Renaissance lute music and Martinu's Oboe Concerto, featuring Laura Reynolds, oboe. April 14 & 15, 2012 Symphony of the Redwoods: A Musical Grand Tour Spring Concert For the final musical journey of the season, the orchestra will take you from the "Hall of the Mountain King", Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite #1 to Russia, for Shostakovich's Piano Concerto #2 with featured guest pianist, Carolyn Steinbuck. The concert finale is Schumann's Symphony #2.
