Women's Economic Justice and Security Roundtable
Women's Intercultural Network (WIN) and Global Arts and Education (GAE) are holding a Community Roundtable and Call to Action on "Women's Economic Justice and Security" Tuesday, September 13, 2011, Lorraine Hansberry Theater, at the Post Theater, Union Square, 450 Post Street, San Francisco, CA. The Theater is hosting as a co-sponsor. This Roundtable is a Non-Governmental (NGO) Parallel event to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) - Women's Economic Summit (WES), September 13 - 16. We invite you to join with Bay Area activists and women attending the APEC-WES Summit for discussion and action on these critical priority issues for women locally and globally. APEC Registrants are our guests. Rose Aguilar, Host of Your Call Radio, KALW, FM 91.7, moderating a stellar panel including Arcelia Hurtado, Equal Rights Advocates; Ethel Long-Scott, Women's Economic Agenda Project; Kaki Rusmore, Santa Cruz County Women's Commission and Special Guest Jean Shinoda Bolen, Millionth Circle and Chair, 5th World Conference, will frame the issues for a pro-active discussion leading to economic equality and financial security at home and in the workplace for women. A Q&A interactive with the audience and panel will create innovative and workable action recommendations and strategies for this goal. A Reception will be held at 6:30 PM in the Lobby, 3rd floor. The Program will begin at 7:15 and close at 9:00 PM. Coffee will be served in the Lobby following the Roundtable to give opportunity for informal exchange of ideas. The Roundtable and Q&A will be audio and video taped for PodCast and broadcast on KALW FM Radio A Weblog will be available for on-going discussion and action planning on this issue. The actions recommended will be collated and included in the California Women's Agenda and presented to the APEC-WES Summit as recommendations from women of California. Co-Sponsors are The Friends of the San Francisco Commission on Women, The Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, Ruth and Ross Uchimura and the Doris J. Foster Foundation. APEC Registrants are welcome and free to attend.
