The Slow Food "Fast Food Picnic"
Held in the Russian River region of Northern California's wine country, this afternoon picnic will feature Carlo Petrini, founder and President of Slow Food, Alice Waters, of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, and Mac Magruder of Inglehaven Ranch, growers of grass-fed beef cattle.
The lunch will include typical "fast-food" items prepared in the Slow Food manner: Grass-fed hamburgers on locally baked rolls, organic fried chicken wings, hand-made pickled summer veggies and potato salad, and hand-made condiments. Dessert is fresh apple pie from local apples.
The event will raise funds for the Gravenstein Apple Presidia, the Steele Lane Elementary school garden, and the Slow Food leadership development.
Ticket price: $90 - Slow Food members; $115 - Non-members Please note: A limited number of tickets are available at cost for small farmers/producers. If you wish to purchase one of these tickets please contact Laura Martin at (707) 526-2922 for information.
