KRISTIN TOWERS-ROWLES "My Lovely Lineage"
Kristin Towers-Rowles will bring her acclaimed one-woman concert style cabaret to The Arthur Newman Theatre at The Joslyn Center in Palm Desert on Sunday, September 4, 2011 as part of the long-running Les Michaels' Life Is A Cabaret Series. A Lovely Lineage is a musical celebration of a Hollywood family, and how it's impossible to grow up "normal" when your entire family is in show business.
In A Lovely Lineage, Kristin Towers-Rowles pays homage to her grandmother, the late Kathryn Grayson, an MGM star during Hollywood's Golden Era (Showboat, Kiss Me Kate, Anchors Away); her grandfather, Johnnie Johnston, a Tony-nominated Broadway/film/radio leading man (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn); her mother, Patricia Towers, a headliner in Las Vegas (Caesars Palace); her father, Robert Towers, a stage and screen actor/singer (Older Benjamin in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, 1776, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown); as well as her brother, pop singer and Interscope recording artist Jordy Towers. As for Kristin, she's been called a 'funny' soprano and is often compared to a young Madeline Kahn, but her 'serious side' has sung all over the world and regionally in more than 20 musical theatre roles, including Phantom of the Opera (Christine), Les Miserables (Cosette), Kiss Me Kate (Lilli/Kate), Sunday in the Park with George (Dot), Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (Milly), and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Muriel)

A Lovely Lineage will include memorable songs from Kathryn Grayson's MGM movies, to songs her grandfather introduced to The Great American Songbook, in addition to some of Kristin's favorites from roles she's performed over the years. Musical Director Joe Symon will be joining Kristin on the baby grand piano for this Sunday, September 4th, 2 PM performance with doors opening at 1 PM.
